Prof. Rachida Salama Primov was born in Rabat, Morocco. After high school, she attended the Université de Provence (Aix-Marseille 1) in France. She earned her BA in 1975, her MA in 1976, and her Ph.D. in 1981 from the Department of Anglo-American Studies; her doctoral dissertation was titled Le Cinéma Américain de 1968 à Nos Jours, du Rêve au Cauchemar (American Cinema from 1968 to the Present, From dreams to Nightmares).
She started her teaching career in 1973 to 1974 as an assistant instructor of French in Aylesbury High School (England). After obtaining her Ph.D. in 1981, she became an Assistant Professor at the Université Mohamed V (Morocco). In 1987, she moved to the United States and taught French as an Assistant Instructor at the University of Missouri-Columbia. In 1989, she was hired at the University of Miami as a lecturer of French. Presently, she is a Senior Lecturer of French and the Director of the Language Laboratories at the University of Miami. As the Director of the Language Laboratories at the University of Miami, she is in charge of the Virtual Immersion Program (VIP). This is the program through which the University of Miami is now both pleased and honored to partner with the Self-Learning Languages Office of the Universidad Autonoma del Estado de Hidalgo and the reason why she is here today on her first ever visit to a Latin American country. |
